The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) held a working session with a delegation from Tsinghua University (China), with the aim of strengthening institutional ties and exploring new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in academic, scientific, and social innovation fields.
The Tsinghua University delegation was composed of Dr. Chen Taotao, Director of the Latin American Center; Ms. Rong Yu, Postdoctoral Fellow from the Department of Finance; and doctoral students Feng Jian and Qiao Ziyi from the School of Economics and Management.
During the initial meeting, held at the Academic Direction of Institutional Relations (DARI), discussions focused on PUCP’s participation in the upcoming edition of the Poverty Alleviation Challenge, an international initiative led by Tsinghua University that seeks to mobilize university students to propose innovative solutions to poverty. Mechanisms to promote academic mobility, joint research, and the exchange of experiences between both universities were also addressed.
On behalf of PUCP, the meeting was attended by Dr. Alberto Ferrand, Head of the Office of Institutional Relations Development; Mr. Rubén Tang, Head of the Asia Relations Office; Mr. César Miranda, International Development Coordinator; and Mr. Juan Paz, DARI Assistant.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the Institute for Nature, Territory and Renewable Energy (INTE-PUCP), where they were welcomed by Dr. Eric Cosio, Director of the Institute, along with Diego Espejo, Institutional Relations Coordinator, and Dr. Norma Salinas, researcher and member of the Institute’s Board. During this meeting, the delegation was presented with advances in sustainability, climate change, renewable energies, and territorial protection initiatives that INTE-PUCP has been developing, with a view to potential collaborations with Tsinghua.
These meetings are a clear reflection of the strong relationship between Tsinghua University and PUCP, as well as the mutual interest in consolidating sustained academic collaboration between our university and this prestigious Chinese institution.
