On July 7, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) welcomed a delegation from National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taiwan, led by Professor Chen Jung-Cheng from the Department of Education and composed of 18 students and faculty members involved in education and the development of ethnic minority communities. The visit aimed to strengthen the ties between the two institutions and explore opportunities for research collaboration and academic exchange.
This event was organized by the Academic Office of Institutional Affairs, in coordination with the “Josefina Ramos de Cox” Museum of Archaeology and Casa O’Higgins, which designed a program that combined an introduction to Peru’s cultural heritage with opportunities for academic dialogue between the two institutions.
The visit began with a tour of the “Josefina Ramos de Cox” Museum of Archaeology, where the delegation was welcomed by Álvaro Sialer, representative of the Riva-Agüero Institute and Milagritos Jiménez, Director of the Museum. There, they learned about the museum’s history and explored the exhibitions “Lima Milenaria: Cultura y memoria de la vida cotidiana” and “Pacha Wachaq: La alimentación como legado ancestral”. The group then toured Casa O’Higgins and the “Luis Repetto Málaga” Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions.
Later that afternoon, a meeting was held with Rubén Tang, César Miranda, Allison Betancourt and Juan Paz. They presented academic cooperation opportunities between PUCP and NCCU and discussed internationalization initiatives and collaborative research and projects focused on the education of ethnic minority communities.
As an outcome, both institutions expressed their interest in exploring collaborative research projects and promoting the exchange of best practices in education for ethnic minority communities. The Taiwanese delegation also showed a strong interest in learning more about Inca culture and Peru’s historical heritage.
Through this visit, PUCP continues to strengthen its internationalization strategy by fostering partnerships that contribute to the development of research projects, academic mobility and initiatives that promote a more inclusive and intercultural education.
