As part of its commitment to academic excellence and the global reach of its students, the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), through its Academic Office of Institutional Affairs (DARI), is promoting its Internationalization at Home initiative. This initiative allows students to enhance their university education with international learning experiences without having to travel abroad. Through three programs—International Week, courses with COIL modules, and courses in English—students have the opportunity to access academic offerings taught by international specialists, develop intercultural skills, and broaden their global perspective at PUCP.

International Week

This program takes place one week before the start of the regular semester and offers students the opportunity to take courses with international instructors, allowing them to earn academic credits in advance. Its objective is to expose students to new global perspectives and approaches, thereby fostering knowledge exchange and promoting comprehensive education in an enriching academic environment.

In the 2025-2026 edition, 892 students participated in 28 international courses offered by 13 PUCP faculties.

English courses

This program allows students to take English-language courses taught by PUCP faculty with a strong command of the language. Its purpose is to strengthen students’ language skills in an academic context, preparing them for international environments.

In the 2025-2026 edition, 456 students participated in 20 international courses offered by 10 PUCP faculties.

It's not only a rewarding experience, but also a challenging one. It allows us to explore new ways of reaching students with the gratification of developing new skills that make their education much more solid.

Courses with COIL modules

COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) is an international teaching and learning methodology that allows PUCP faculty and students to collaborate with foreign universities on academic projects during a semester within a regular course. Through this initiative, which includes COIL modules, participants work together with peers from around the world, promoting the exchange of knowledge and perspectives in a digital environment.

During the 2024 academic year, 16 courses that included COIL modules were taught, with 412 PUCP undergraduate and graduate students benefiting from this methodology. Currently, in 2025-2026, 13 courses are being taught that include a COIL module, where 330 undergraduate and graduate students will benefit from the internationalization experience at home.

Collaborations are fun. It helps you learn a lot when you're not just with your classmates, but also when you meet people from other majors and even from other countries, and I feel it helps a lot with knowledge and learning.

Tatsuya Oscata Student of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences

With these internationalization programs at home, DARI reaffirms its commitment to providing PUCP students with opportunities to enrich their academic training through international experiences.
