Alexa Valenzuela Ayala, a graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), was the only Peruvian selected for the 2026 International Student Freshman Scholarship at Fudan University, an institution ranked 26th in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

Fudan University maintains a cooperation relationship with PUCP in areas such as global research, funded student mobility, and leadership in international consortia. This collaboration contributes to strengthening academic ties between Peru and Shanghai’s innovation ecosystem.

The scholarship is aimed at outstanding international students entering graduate programs at Fudan University and seeks to provide financial support throughout their studies in Shanghai. As part of this opportunity, Alexa will pursue the two-year Master Program of Chinese Society and Public Policy. The scholarship also covers tuition fees, accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly stipend for personal expenses.

To provide her with information and guidance to facilitate her adaptation and academic life in China, an orientation session was held on August 15 and organized by the Asia Relations Office of the Academic Directorate of Institutional Relations (DARI). The session was led by Rubén Tang, Head of the Asia Relations Office. This office will also follow up with Alexa throughout her stay abroad, providing guidance and support in case of any eventuality.

We congratulate Alexa on this important achievement and wish her every success in this new academic and professional stage in Shanghai. Through initiatives such as this, we continue to reaffirm our commitment to internationalization and the comprehensive support of our students by promoting educational opportunities abroad and strengthening their preparation to thrive in global contexts.
