On August 12, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Lima hosted a ceremony to present certificates to the recipients of scholarships awarded by the Government of South Korea through the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) program and the Korea International Cooperation Agency’s (KOICA) CIAT program. These scholarships will enable the selected recipients to pursue master’s degrees at prestigious universities in South Korea.
This year, a total of 11 scholarships were awarded, three of which went to graduates of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Through the GKS program, Maricielo Macha Quispealaya and Romy Albino Chávez were selected, both graduates of the Industrial Engineering program at the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Maricielo Macha will pursue a master’s degree in International Business at Ewha Womans University, recognized as one of South Korea’s most prestigious institutions and the world’s largest women’s university. Meanwhile, Romy Albino will pursue a Global MBA (GMBA) at Chung-Ang University, renowned for its outstanding programs in theater, film, arts, and media, as well as for the competitiveness of its Business Administration program.
GKS scholarships have a total duration of three years and include one year of intensive Korean language training, preparing students for their subsequent graduate studies.
Meanwhile, Daniela Solís Machiavello, a graduate of the Economics program at PUCP’s Faculty of Social Sciences, was selected through KOICA’s CIAT program. Daniela will pursue a master’s degree in Tax and Fiscal Policy at Korea University, considered one of South Korea’s three most prestigious and elite universities.
Receiving these scholarships represents a significant achievement for the three PUCP graduates, who will continue their academic training at renowned universities in South Korea. PUCP congratulates them on this accomplishment and wishes them every success as they embark on this new stage of their academic and professional journeys.
