The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) welcomed a delegation from Japan’s Ritsumeikan University on August 13 to explore areas of cooperation and identify new opportunities for academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The Japanese delegation was composed of Prof. Ibuki Ishikawa, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, College of Policy Science; Prof. Hideki Kido, Associate Dean of the Community and Regional Policy Studies Program, College of Policy Science; Prof. Daniel Saucedo Segami, Associate Dean for Student Affairs; Ms. Yuka Uematsu, Administrative Manager of the College of Policy Science; and Mr. Toshinobu Hashimoto, Administrative Manager of the Graduate School, College of Policy Science.
Representing PUCP were Mr. Alberto Ferrand Noriega, Head of the Office for the Development of Institutional Relations; Prof. Carol Rivero, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Education; Prof. Alonso Velasco of the Faculty of Education; Prof. Jorge Aragón of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof. Víctor Saco, Director of the Master’s Program in International Economic Law; Prof. Rafael Alcántara of the Faculty of Science and Engineering; Mr. Rubén Tang, Head of the Office of Relations with Asia; and Mr. Juan Paz, Assistant at the Office of Relations with Asia.
During the meeting, representatives from Ritsumeikan University introduced the Policy Science program offered by their College of Policy Science. The presentation served as a starting point for discussions, allowing participants from both institutions to exchange ideas and explore potential areas for academic cooperation.
The meeting revealed a shared interest in developing interinstitutional collaboration. As a next step, both universities aim to advance discussions on specific agreements that would support the mobility of faculty members and students between the two institutions.
Through this meeting, PUCP continues to strengthen its ties with Japanese institutions and expand opportunities for academic exchange and collaboration with universities across Asia.
