In 2026, eleven graduates of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) were selected to pursue joint Erasmus Mundus master’s degrees in Europe, one of the European Union’s most prestigious postgraduate programs. Of the eleven selected graduates, seven received a full Erasmus Mundus scholarship, fully funded by the European Union to cover expenses associated with their studies -including tuition fees, travel, visa costs, health insurance and a monthly living allowance- while four will pursue their studies as self-funded students.
Over the next two years, the selected graduates will study in two or three European countries, becoming part of different universities and international academic communities. Portugal, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Austria and Italy are among the countries that will be part of their academic journey.
As they prepare to begin this new stage, the 11th Erasmus+ Pre-Departure Event 2026 was held on Tuesday, August 11. The event brought together Peruvian students who are about to begin their studies in Europe, representatives of the embassies of European Union Member States, university authorities and representatives of various institutions within Peru’s education sector.
During the ceremony, Jérôme Poussielgue, Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Peru, welcomed the new participants and congratulated them on being selected through a rigorous process to join the 2026 Erasmus Mundus cohort. He also extended a special greeting and recognition to Julio del Valle, Rector of PUCP, for his presence and for the university’s commitment to the education and development of its students. European embassies in Peru, PRONABEC, and the Erasmus Mundus Alumni Association also welcomed the new participants and shared messages highlighting the academic, cultural, and professional opportunities offered by this international experience. The new scholarship recipients were also recognized as Erasmus Ambassadors.
Representing PUCP, Julio del Valle accompanied the selected graduates throughout the ceremony and shared words of recognition for this important achievement. He highlighted the value of the academic and international experience they are about to undertake and wished them every success in this new stage. Also in attendance were María Antonieta Delgado, Academic Director of the Academic Directorate for Institutional Relations (DARI), and Elizabet Arteaga, Head of International Development Cooperation at DARI.
The selection of our graduates for Erasmus Mundus programs reflects the strength of the education they received at PUCP and their ability to excel in highly demanding international academic environments. This achievement also reaffirms our university’s commitment to internationalization as a means of expanding opportunities, fostering academic excellence and connecting PUCP talent with academic networks around the world.
